Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball spit a CUNYAC Tri-Match held at The APEX Main Gym on Saturday as it dropped a three-set decision (10-25, 11-25, 5-25) to Hunter College and then defeated Medgar Evers College in three straight (25-12, 25-14, 25-19).
After losing the first two sets to the Hunter Hawks (14-5, 4-0 CUNYAC), the Lightning (2-12; 1-3 CUNYAC) opened the third with a 1-1 deadlock early. However, Hunter went on a 24 to 4 run to win the match.
Arianna Calderon and
Daria Hernandez had three kills each for Lehman, while
Ana Mena posted 10 assists.
In the nightcap, the Lightning took the first two sets however in the third trailed 7-6 against the Medgar Evers Cougars (0-12, 0-7 CUNYAC). Lehman then outscored Medgar Evers, 19 to 12 to capture the match. Hernandez led the Lightning offense with nine kills and 12 digs, while
Abena Abankwa and
Arianna Calderon had 5 kills each. Mena dished out 23 assists with four kills and seven digs.
Lehman continues CUNYAC play on Thursday (October 12th) when it hosts York College-NY at The APEX Main Gym with first serve set for 6 pm ET.
