Bronxville, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming teams competed in a tri-match against Baruch College and hosts Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday at Campbell Sports Center. The Lightning men (1-1) defeated Gryphons, 101-17 but lost to Bearcats 141-37, while the women side (0-2) dropped both encounters by scores of 97-35 and 123-24, respectively.
The highlight for the Lehman men was
Jefferson Tejera who claimed gold in the 500 Freestyle clocking in at 5:15.26. Tejera also took silver in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:50.59. Adam Bryne and
Brandon Coombs both finished second in the 50 Freestyle and 200 IM each clocking in at 23.68 and 2:11.77, respectively. Also, Byrne, Coombs, Tejera and
Romulo Valadez claimed silver in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.09.
On the women's side,
Ofelia Valadez took second place for Lehman in the 100 Breaststroke clocking in at 1:28.13. Valadez along with
Bailey Reeves,
Aisling Burgos and Gisely Velez won silver medals in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:23.35.
The Lightning will be back in action next Saturday (November 18th) when they hosts a tri-match against Western Connecticut State and SUNY-Delhi with the first race set for 1 pm ET.
