Purchase, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming/diving teams earned a split of a non-conference match-up at Purchase College as the men's side (4-1) won 114-45, while the women's squad (2-4) fell 87-69.
The Lightning men were led by
Adam Byrne who claimed gold in three individual events: 50 Freestyle (23.76), 100 Breaststroke (1:10.07) and 100 Freestyle (53.58), while
Jefferson Tejera took first place individual honors in 100 Butterfly (1:01.07), 200 Freestyle (1:54.18) and was member of the winning 200 Freestyle Relay side (2:01.72) along with
Brahian Castillo,
Thomas Saudi and
Christopher Ramirez.
Rounding out the men's highlights on Tuesday was
Brandon Coombs who took the gold in the 100 Backstroke and 200 IM clocking in at 58.97 and 2:12.72, respectively.
For the Lehman women,
Avery Engstrom led the way finishing atop in the 50 Freestyle (32.81), 100 Backstroke (1:20.72) and 100 Breaststroke (1:22.78).
Nicole Perez also won gold for the Lightning in the 100 Butterfly and 200 IM with times of 1:16.38 and 3:00.86, respectively.
Both Lehman sides will be competing in the ECAC Winter Championships this weekend at Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
