Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost its home-opener twin-bill (15-2; 11-6) on Saturday to non-conference College at Old Westbury at South Field. The Lightning dropped to an 0-4 overall ledger, while the Panthers improved to 4-1 mark.
In the opener, Old Westbury jumped out to a 7-0 lead and Lehman could not recover and fell by a 15-2 score. The Lightning highlights were DH's
Jeremmy Santos posting his first home run of the season, while shortstop
Erik Then had an RBI double.
During the nightcap, Lehman trailed 7-5 after four innings of action, however in Old Westbury scored four more times in the next three innings to complete the two-game sweep. The Lightning were paced by leftfielders
Javaun Smith who drove in two runs, while Santos went two-for-four with a run scored and an RBI. Third baseman
Ranssel Pinedo hit his first homer of the campaign, while first baseman
Nomar Rijo went one-for-three with an RBI single.
Lehman returns to action on Saturday (March 18
th) when it hosts St. Joseph's College-LI in a non-conference match-up at South Field with first pitch set for noon.
