Newark, N.J. – The Lehman College baseball team dropped a 14-3 non-conference encounter to hosts Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday at Weequahic Park. The Lightning go to an 0-9 record, while the Scarlet Raiders improved to an 11-4 mark.
Rutgers-Newark took a 4-0 lead, Lehman got on the board when infielder
Justin Nunez crossed home plate in the top of the fourth, however, the hosts scored five times in the bottom of the inning to mark it 8-1.
After the outfielder
Javaun Smith scored for the Lightning in the fifth, the Scarlet Raiders added two more runs in the sixth inning to make it 11-2.
Designated hitter
Elias Femin scored for Lehman in the top of inning, however Rutgers-Newark put three more on the board in the bottom half for the victory.
Infielder
Erik Then went three-for-four from the plate for the Lightning, while Smith was two-for-five.
Lehman continues its road swing on Saturday (March 25th) when it heads to Patchogue, N.Y. to take on St. Joseph's College-LI in a doubleheader starting a 11 am ET.
