Trenton, N.J. – First baseman
Ranssel Pinedo scored three times and drove in three, while going four-for-five from the plate to lead the Lehman College baseball team to a 17-8 victory against hosts John Jay College in the opener of a CUNYAC twin-bill at Trenton Thunder Ballpark on Saturday.
With the score tied at 4-4 after three innings in the opener, the Lightning (4-17; 4-3 CUNYAC) got five runs in the top of the fourth for a 9-4 lead. However, the Bloodhounds (2-32; 0-7 CUNYAC) scored four times in the bottom half of the inning to make it 9-8. Lehman then added eight runs in the sixth inning to pull away for the victory.

Nomar Rijo also had three RBI while going two-for-five with two runs scored for Lehman. Third baseman
Frederick de la Rosa also crossed the plate three times and drove in two runs, while right fielder
Jeremmy Santos and shortstop Ryan Ross both went three-for-five at bat with two RBI each.
Tran Hennessy got this third victory for the Lightning on the mound this season as he pitched 3.2 innings in relief on Saturday with four strikeouts.
The nightcap of the CUNYAC doubleheader was suspended in the third inning due to the weather and a make-up date will be announced in due course.
