Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team defeated visiting York College-NY, 6-1, in a CUNYAC match-up, on Wednesday, at The APEX Courts. The Lightning improved to a 1-3 overall ledger and 1-0 in CUNYAC play, while the Cardinals go to an 0-4 mark and 0-3 in conference action.
After winning two of the three doubles matches,
Viola Avdyli led the way for Lehman in #1 singles action as she easily defeated York-NY's Emperatriz Cesar, 6-0, 6-0.
Caroline Lopez was also victorious for the Lightning as she won #2 singles over Cardinals' Jamelia Jordan, 6-1, 6-3, while
Faith Fidele triumphed in #5 singles against her York-NY opponent Dawa Bhote, 6-1, 6-2.
After Lehman's Misty Khadija won #4 singles, via default,
Avril Vargas defeated Jerina Forbes of York-NY, in #6 singles action, 8-4.
The Lightning are back in action on Friday (September 29th) when they welcome Sarah Lawrence College, in a non-conference affair, at The APEX Courts, with first serve set for 4 pm ET.
