Jamaica, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming teams won both CUNYAC encounters against hosts York College-NY at the YC Natatorium on Thursday evening as the men's side posted an 80-22 victory, while the women's squad triumphed 74-27.
The Lightning men (5-3; 1-2 CUNYAC) were led by
Brandon Coombs as he won the 100 and 200 Freestyle events clocking in at 57.84 and 2:07.20, respectively.
Adam Byrne captured the 400 Freestyle (5:00.71), while
Brahian Castillo took the 50 Freestyle (34.08) and
Romulo Valadez claimed the 100 Backstroke (1:15.73). Also, Castillo, Valadez,
Joseph Fernandez and
Thomas Saudi won gold in the 200 Medley Relay (2:47.51).
Arlene Suzana paced the Lehman women (3-7; 1-4 CUNYAC) on Thursday as she finished first in the in the 100 and 400 Freestyle races with times of 1:11.96 and 6:10.03, respectively. Suzana along with
Marlena Thoma,
Avery Engstrom and
Danelli Lora claimed gold in the 200 Medley Relay clocking in at 3:21.94. Also, Engstrom captured the 200 Freestyle (3:15.70), while
Gisley Velez took the 100 Backstroke (1:43.36).
Both Lightning squads concluded the regular season when they travel to Wayne, N.J., next Tuesday (January 23rd) as they meet William Paterson University in a non-conference dual.
