Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team opened its 2024 campaign on Saturday dropping consecutive three-set non-conference matches to Neumann University and hosts King's College-Pa. at Scandlon Gym.
The Lightning (0-2) took an early 9-5 lead early in the opening set against the home side Monarchs (1-0). However, King's-Pa. went on a 20 to 14 run to take the first set. Then, the Monarchs won the next two sets to claim the match.
Alain Abreu Esteva notched seven kills and digs for Lehman, while
Ray Rodriguez also hit seven kills and grabbed six digs.
After dropping the first two sets of Saturday's nightcaps against Nuemann Knights (1-1), the Lightning came back in the third to tie the score 20-20. However, Nuemann completed the match sweep after going on a 5 to 2 run.
Lehman will have its home season opener next Tuesday (January 23rd) against non-conference opponent Bard College at The APEX Main Gym with first serve set for 7 pm ET.
