Purchase, N.Y. – Both Lehman College swimming teams competed in a non-conference tri-meet on Monday against York College-NY and hosts Purchase College, with the Lightning men winning both ends of the double dual while the women's side split, defeating York and falling to Purchase.
Brandon Coombs once again led the way for the Lehman men (7-3) as he captured gold in the 100 Breaststroke (1:10.14), 50 (23.10) and 100 Freestyle (50.36) events.
Ronald Sanchez finished first in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke with times of 54.90 and 1:00.92, respectively, while
Adam Byrne claimed the 200 Freestyle as he clocked in at 2:01.76.
Romulo Valadez took the top spot the 500 Freestyle (6:20.44) and was also part of the winning 200 Freestyle Relay Team (1:49.09) along with Sanchez,
Brahian Castillo and
Juan Rodriguez.
Arlene Suzana paced the Lightning women (4-8) as she won the 100 Backstroke (1:14.76), 50 (28.18) and 100 Freestyle events (1:02.61).
Avery Engstrom took gold in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:25.64, while
Nusrat Alam, Albina Krasykova,
Danelli Lora and Gisely Velez were on the winning 200 Freestyle Relay Team clocking in at 2:15.24.
Prior to hosting the 2024 CUNYAC Championships next month, Lehman will have one more meet to conclude its regular season as it travels to Wayne, N.J. for a non-conference dual against William Paterson University.
