Wayne, N.J. – Both Lehman College swimming and diving teams concluded the regular season on Tuesday evening dropped a non-conference dual meet against the hosts William Paterson University at Wightman Pool as the men's squad dropped a 109-78 decision, while the women's side lost 83-64.
The Lightning men (7-4) were led by
Ronald Sanchez as he won gold in three individual and one team event on Tuesday. Sanchez captured the 200 IM (2:07.77), Butterfly (2:07.95), Backstroke (2:09.96) and was on the winning 400 Medley Relay Team (3:50.79) along with
Adam Byrne,
Brandon Coombs and
Roger Sanchez. Coombs also took first place honors in the 50 and 100 Freestyle races clocking in at 23.01 and 50.31, respectively.
The highlights for the Lehman women (4-9) had
Avery Engstrom and
Marlena Thoma winning the 200 Breaststroke (3:13.54) and 500 Freestyle (8:53.42) events, respectively. Both Engstrom and Thoma along with
Abena Abankwa and
Gisley Velez captured the 400 Freestyle Relay (6:01.60), while
Danelli Lora won the 1 Meter Diving (136.30).
The Lightning will now host the 2024 CUNYAC Championships from February 2-4, at The APEX Swimming Pool.
