Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to six games after blanking visiting York College-NY, 5-0, in a CUNYAC encounter, on Wednesday, at South Field. The Lightning go to a 5-6-2 overall record and 3-0-2 in CUNYAC action, while the Cardinals dropped to a 1-10-1 mark and 0-5 in conference play.
Lehman jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Forward
Alexander Agyemang opened the scoring for the Lightning in the 19th minute off an assist from midfielder
Brandon Dennis. Then, at the 35th minute-mark, midfielder
Bright Takyi scored off a pass from teammate
Cameron Dennis.
In the second half, midfielder
Dalton Charlton gave Lehman a 3-0 advantage in the 68th minute off an assist from teammate
Adam Kowalski.
Forward
Ian Lanter made it 4-0 in favor of the hosts in the 71st minute off a pass from teammate
Amidou Kone. Then, five minutes later, Kone tallied the Lightning's fifth goal of the match off an assist from midfielder
Hameed Gado.
Lehman outshot York-NY, 30 to 5, with Lightning goalkeeper
Andres Barajas making three saves for his sixth shutout of the season.
The victory keeps Lehman (3-0-2) in third place in the CUNYAC Standings behind Baruch College (4-0-1) and CCNY (4-0-1).
The Lightning will look to continue its unbeaten streak when it hosts John Jay College, in another key CUNYAC encounter, at South Field on Saturday (October 19th) with kickoff set for noon.
