Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team lost its regular season home finale in three-sets (26-28, 19-25, 15-25) to CUNYAC rival Baruch College on Friday afternoon at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning go to a 6-16 overall record and 2-5 in CUNYAC action, while the Bearcats improved to an 8-15 mark and 3-4 in conference play.
After losing a tough first set, Lehman had a 10-8 lead in the second. However, Baruch went on a 17 to 9 run to take the second set and then later won the third set to claim the match.
Alanis Vasquez notched seven kills with eight digs and five service aces for the Lightning, while
Erika Vasquez also hit seven kills and had three blocks.
Arianna Calderon posted five kills and grabbed 13 digs, while
Ana Mena recorded a 'double-double' with 18 assists and 11 digs.
The playoff bound Lehman is the fifth seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Championships and will travel next Tuesday (November 12th) to take on third-seeded Brooklyn College in the opening round.
