Bronx, N.Y. – Despite a 'double-double' (31 points, 11 rebounds) from forward
Heaven Figueroa, the Lehman College women's basketball team dropped its opening match of the annual CUNY Coaches vs Cancer Tournament, 83-49, to Neumann University at The APEX Main Gym on Friday. The Lightning go to a 5-4 overall record, while the Knights improved to an 8-4 mark.
Neuman jumped out to a 29 to 9 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back afterwards as it shot 45 percent from the field for the rest of the game. Lehman struggled and shot only 30 % from the field.
Heaven also dished out five assists and had four steals for the Lightning, while forward
Mush Muniru added eight points and seven rebounds.
In the earlier encounter of the CUNYAC Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament, Trinity College-Conn. defeated University of Saint Joseph-Conn., 93-73.
The tournament concludes on Saturday (December 28th) with the consolation game in the opener as Lehman faces Saint Joseph-Conn. at noon, while the final will take place afterwards with Neumann against Trinity.
