Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming team concluded its home regular season on Thursday evening as both men's and women's sides were victorious in their respective tri-meet match-ups against Maritime College and York College-NY at The APEX Pool.
Thursday's also bid farewell to seniors

Avery Engstrom,
Juan Rodriguez,
Thomas Saudi,
Marlena Thoma and
Ofelia Valadez, who competed in their final meet at home with the Lightning uniform.
Lehman men's squad (9-4) posted 123 points topping Maritime (78) and York-NY (15) on Thursday and was led by
Romulo Valadez as he captured two individual races: 50 Backstroke (30.13), 100 Backstroke (1:14.51); and was on the winning 100 Freestyle Relay Team (42.79) along with
Roger Sanchez, Coombs and
Ronald Sanchez.
Also on the men's side:
Adam Byrne and Coombs claimed gold in the100 IM (1:05.78) & 50 Yard Freestyle (23.05), respectively, while
Ronald Sanchez finished first in the 100 Freestyle (52.38) and 100 Butterfly (55.16). All four won the 100 Medley Relay with a time of 48.07.
Also on Thursday, the Lightning women (6-9) finished with 103 points atop of Maritime (55) and York-NY (six) as
Arlene Suzana led the way taking the 50 Butterfly (30.18), 100 Freestyle (1:09.92) and 100 Butterfly (1:09.71) and while
Gisley Velez also finished first in 50 Freestyle (33.22). Suzana and Velez joined Engstrom and Valadez as they captured gold in the 100 Freestyle Relay (54.31) and 100 Medley Relay (1:08.29).
Lehman continues its season with the Metropolitan Swim Championships at New Brunswick, N.J. from February 16-18, before competing at New York University Invitational from Feb. 23-24.
