Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team dropped its home encounter to non-conference opponent College of Mount St. Vincent, 11-5, on Friday at South Field. The Lightning go to an 0-3 record, while the Dolphins improved to a 3-5 mark.
After Lehman took a 3-1 advantage in the first inning, Mount St. Vincent came back with two runs in the second to tie it at 3-3. The Lightning took the lead again, 4-3, after three innings of action, however the Dolphins scored two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth, two more in the seventh and one in the eighth for an 11-4 edge. Lehman attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth inning however only had one batter crossing home plate.
Catcher
Brandon Deynes went three-for-five at bat with two runs scored and two RBI for the Lightning, while centerfielder
Kevin Arias went three-for-four.
Rich Frommelt got the loss for Lehman on the mound after pitching six strong innings with five strikeouts and only gave up three earned runs.
Lehman returns to action on Sunday (March 17th) when it travels to take on College at Old Westbury, in non-conference twin-bill, with first pitch set for 11 am ET.
