Newark, N.J. – The Lehman College baseball team lost a 22-6 non-conference encounter to hosts Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday at Weequahic Park. The Lightning go to a 0-6 record, while the Scarlet Raiders improved to a 12-4 mark.
After Lehman took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth, Rutgers-Newark's offense exploded with 17 runs in the bottom of the inning on its way to the victory.
The highlights for the Lightning were third baseman
Frederick de la Rosa who went two-for-four with two runs scored and two RBI, while first baseman
Elias Fermin also drove in two runs as he went one-for-two from the plate.
Lehman returns to action on Saturday (March 23rd) when it travels to Kings Point, N.Y. to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference twin-bill with first pitch set for noon.
