Baseball Lose Twice To CCNY

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost a CUNYAC twin-bill to visiting CCNY, 16-3 and 23-13, at South Field on Friday evening.  The Lightning go to an 0-11 overall record and 0-2 in CUNYAC play, while the Beavers improved to a 5-13 mark and 2-0 in conference action.

After taking a 2-0 lead after two innings of action in the opener, Lehman surrendered seven runs in the top of the third and nine more in the innings for CCNY triumph. Second baseman Erik Then and first baseman Elias Fermin each hit homers for the Lightning.

In the nightcap, the Beavers jumped to a 19-3 advantage after four and half innings of action.  Lehman attempted a comeback as it posted eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 19-11, however CCNY outscored the hosts four to two in the final two innings for the victory.  Leftfielder Kevin Arias went three-for-five with a homer, three runs scored and two RBI for the Lightning, while catcher Brandon Deynes was two-for-four with a run scored and three RBI.

Lehman is back in action on Tuesday (April 2nd) when it travels to New Jersey for a non-conference encounter against FDU-Florham with the first pitch set for 3:30 pm ET.
