Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team posted consecutive victories on Tuesday evening at The APEX Main Gym against CUNYAC rival Brooklyn College, 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 28-26) and non-conference opponent Pratt Institute, 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-23).
After the Lightning (7-8; 4-2 CUNYAC) won the first set of the opener on Tuesday, the Brooklyn Bulldogs (5-11; 1-4 CUNYAC) took the second to level the match. Lehman then won the next two sets for the conference victory.
Ray Rodriguez had a 'double-double' for the Lightning with 16 kills and 22 digs, while
Emmanuel Oladosu added 11 kills and
Christian Agudo dished out 38 assists.
Lehman won the first two sets in the nightcap encounter, before the Pratt Cannoners (4-7) made the third set more competitive with the score tied 23-23. The Lightning then avoided a possible comeback by the Cannoners and posted consecutive points to win the set and the match.
Alain Abreu Esteva had 11 kills and seven digs for the Lehman offense, while Rodriguez hit seven kills with nine digs and Agudo posted 32 assists.
The Lightning are back in action on Thursday (March 7th) when they travel to take on Hunter College in a CUNYAC match-up at 6 pm ET.
