Staten Island, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball dropped its 2024 season opener to hosts St. Joseph's University-NY, 11-2, at Mid Island Babe Ruth Sports Complex on Thursday. The Lightning go to a 0-1 record, while the Bears improved to a 1-0 mark.
After Lehman cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the seventh, St. Joseph's-NY scored six times in the bottom of the inning and added two runs in the eighth for the victory.
Third baseman
Frederick de la Rosa and designated hitter
Rich Frommelt both scored and had a hit each for the Lightning, while right fielder
Stefan Allen and shortstop
Ryan Rosa each had RBI.
Lehman has its home opener on Monday (March 11th) when it welcomes University of Valley Forge in a twin-bill at South Field, with first pitch set for 4 pm ET.
