Baseball Lose Twin-Bill To John Jay

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost a CUNYAC twin-bill to visiting John Jay, 26-7, 25-7, on Monday evening at South Field.  The Lightning go to a 0-16 overall record and 0-6 in CUNYAC action, while the Bloodhounds improved to a 12-13 mark and 4-0 in conference play.

After a 1-1 deadlock in the top of second of the doubleheader opener, John Jay scored three times and never trailed for the rest of the game as it totaled 26 runs on 21 hits over Lehman's seven runs on 11 hits.  The highlight for the Lightning was first baseman Elias Fermin as he hit two home runs while going three-for-three with two runs scored and four RBI. Third baseman Lizardo Antigua also had a homer as he was two-for-two with two runs scored.

In the nightcap, the visitors had a 9 to 2 lead going into the bottom of the third inning.  Lehman scored four times to cut the deficit to three runs (9-6), however John Jay answered with 11 runs in the next two innings to pull away and eventually finished with 25 runs on 22 hits.  Second baseman Erik Then paced the Lightning offense going two-for-two with home run and three RBI. Centerfielder Cristopher Cruz and third baseman Frederick de la Rosa each added homers for Lehman.

The Lightning are back in action on Wednesday (April 17th) when they travel to take on New Paltz in a non-conference match-up at 4 pm ET.
