Madison, N.J. – The Lehman College baseball team fell in both games of CUNYAC doubleheader against the hosts John Jay College, 4-3, 9-8, on Saturday, at Naiomli Ballpark. The Lightning go to an 0-26 overall record and 0-12 in CUNYAC action, while the Bloodhounds improved to a 17-21 mark and 7-5 in conference play.
After trailing 4-2 going into the top of the seventh in the opener, Lehman scored to cut lead to 4-3, however, John Jay held on for the victory. Shortstop
Frederick de la Rosa went two-for-four with a home run for the Lightning, while the centerfielder
Kevin Arias and second baseman
Ryan Rosa both were two-for-four.
In the nightcap, Lehman jumped out to an 8-3 advantage after four innings of action. John Jay scored twice in the fifth, then three in the seventh to tie the encounter. The Bloodhounds scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for the victory. Rightfielder
Cristopher Cruz was three-for-four with two runs scored for the Lightning, de la Rosa drove in two runs.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, Lehman will travel to take on the hosts CCNY in the opening round of the CUNYAC playoffs which will take place on Tuesday (May 7th) at Purchase, N.Y.
