Cintron to Lead Cross Country and Track and Field Programs

Rene Cintron has been named the Head Coach for the Lehman College Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Teams.

"Rene Cintron is a dedicated and dynamic professional with over a decade of experience in physical education, fitness, athletics, and sports administration," commented Lehman Director of Athletics Ryan McCarthy.  

Rene's impact in athletics extends to coaching, where he served as the Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field at St. Raymond's from 2017 to 2023. His coaching achievements include guiding Gabriel Gonzalez to become the 2020 CHSAA cross country intersectional champion and having multiple athletes achieve top rankings in New York's competitive landscape.

Certified in CPR and First Aid, as well as in NASM, AMFPT, and SPARK youth personal training, Rene excels in creating and implementing fitness programs tailored to diverse age groups and backgrounds. In his role as a Recreation Coordinator and Site Director at NYJTL (New York Junior Tennis and Learning) and as a Supervisor in Lehman's APEX , Rene has demonstrated his ability to manage and develop sports programs and mentor coaches. His tenure at Lehman College as a Supervisor involved supervising work-study students and supporting 18 varsity sports teams, ensuring the effective management of sports equipment and administrative duties.

Rene's educational background includes a B.S. in Exercise Science from Lehman College/CUNY and an A.A.S. in Parks and Recreation/Physical Education from SUNY Delhi College of Technology. As a student athlete at Lehman College, he was recognized as the Rookie of the Year in indoor track and field in 2011 and earned the title of Most Valuable Athlete in cross country in 2012.
