Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team ended an eight-match losing streak, going back to 2023 season, as it topped visiting Medgar Evers College in three sets (25-10, 25-15, 25-10) on Wednesday, in a non-conference match-up, at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning go to a 1-2 overall record, while the Cougars drop to an 0-3 mark.
After the hosts took the first set, Medgar Evers battled back in the second set and tied it ,11-11, before Lehman went on a 14 to 4 run to claim the set and then eventually capture the match after a triumph in the third set.
The Lightning posted a total of 26 service aces against the Cougars.
Cheyenne Gray-Taitt led the way with seven aces, while
Ana Mena had six along with eight assists. Arianna Calderson added to the Lehman offense with seven kills, six digs and four aces, while
Abena Abankwa added four kills and two aces.
The Lightning return to action on Saturday (September 14th) when they hosts a non-conference tri-match against St. Joseph's University-NY and University of Valley Forge starting at 10 am ET at The APEX Main Gym.
