Jamaica, N.Y. – For the first time since 2022, the Lehman College women's tennis team posted a clean sweep of doubles/singles matches, 9-0, after it was victorious over hosts York College-NY, in a CUNYAC encounter, on Thursday, at YC Courts. The Lightning go to a 2-4 record and 1-1 in conference action, while the Cardinals drop to an 0-1 mark both overall and in CUNYAC.
Lehman commenced winning all three of its doubles matches against York-NY. #1 doubles team of
Viola Avdyli and Carolina Lopez blanked Bisola Babanumi/Dawa Bhote, 8-0. #2 doubles Lightning duo

Elizabeth Nlemchukwu also won 8-0, against Julia Wyman/Franeidy Mauricio, while #3 pair of

Stephanie Pena posted an 8-7 (7-3) win over Maryam Khan/Seunga Jeong.
In singles action, #1-Avdyli defeated Babanumi, 6-0, 6-0, while #2-Lopez triumphed 6-0, 6-1 over Bhote. #3-Vargas claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Khan, while #4-Nlemchukwu got a 6-2, 6-4 win over Mauricio.
Rounding out the Lehman victories were #5-
Fernanda Navarrete and #6-
Iris Everett as they won their matches over Wyman (6-1, 6-1) and Jeong (6-0, 6-1), respectively.
The Lightning are back in action on Saturday (September 21st) when they travel to Bard College for a non-conference encounter at noon.
