Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team fell in its home season opener, 5-2 to Yeshiva University, in a non-conference encounter, at The APEX courts on Friday. The Lightning go to a 0-1 record, while the Maccabees improved to a 1-0 mark.
After dropping two of the three doubles encounters to trail 1-0 against Yeshiva, Lehman posted victories in two of the six singles matches for the loss.
Viola Avdyli was victorious in #1 singles for the Lightning defeating the Maccabees' Shira Adler, 6-2, 6-0, while
Caroline Lopez triumphed in #2 singles for the hosts over Micka Mimoun of Yeshiva, 6-1, 6-3.
Lehman returns to action on Saturday (September 7th) when it welcomes Albertus Magnus College, in a non-conference match-up, at The APEX courts with doubles action commencing at noon.
