Bronxville, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's college a pair of non-conference matches against Emmanuel College-Mass. and hosts Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday at Campbell Sports Center.
The Lightning (0-2) lost the first match in three sets (10-25, 14-25, 19-25) to home side Gryphons (3-2). After losing the first two sets, Lehman took a 3-2 lead in the third set. However, Sarah Lawrence went on a 23 to 16 run to claim the match.
Arianna Calderon led the offense for the Lightning with eight kills and two blocks, while Grayana Atidor grabbed seven digs.
In the nightcap, Lehman dropped another three-set encounter (5-25, 13-25, 7-25) to Emmanuel Saints (1-2). After losing the opening two sets, the Lightning held the Saints to a 1-1 draw early in the third. However, Emmanuel outscored Lehman 24 to 6 to capture the set and the match. Calderon pace the Lightning attack with three kills and nine digs.
Lehman will have its home season opener on Wednesday (September 11th) when it takes on Medgar Evers College at The APEX Main Gym with first serve set for 6 pm ET.
