Women’s Basketball Post First Win Over Brooklyn Since 2017

Bronx, N.Y.  – The Lehman College women's basketball team posted its first victory against visiting Brooklyn College, since January 20, 2017, after a 69-59 triumph on Friday evening, at The APEX Main Gym, therefore ending a 12-game losing streak against its CUNYAC opponent.  The Lightning go to a 7-6 overall record and a perfect 3-0 in conference play, while the Bulldogs dropped to a 6-8 mark and 2-1 in CUNYAC action.

Brooklyn took a 15-8 lead after the first period, then Lehman went on a 26 to 10 run in the second quarter to take a nine-point advantage (34-25) at the intermission, then the hosts never looked back and held on for the victory.

Guard Heaven Figueroa led the Lightning with a career-high 41 points with 15 rebounds and was three assists shy (seven) of a 'triple-double.'  Center Ciara Shillingford had eight points, while forwards Emily Kennedy and Mush Muniru added six points each.

Lehman will be back in action on Monday (January 13th) when it hosts Amherst College, in a non-conference affair, at The APEX Main Gym with tip-off set for 5 pm ET.
