Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team posted a 7-0 win over visiting York College-NY, in a CUNYAC match, at The APEX Courts on Monday. The Lightning go to a 5-6 overall record and 2-3 in conference play, while the Cardinals dropped to an 0-9 mark and 0-6 in CUNYAC action.
For a second consecutive encounter, Lehman won Lehman won two doubles and four singles on the court, while York-NY also withdrew from three overall matches (two singles, one double) giving the hosts victories as well.
Gabriela Vargas won her #1-doubles, with Isis Everett, 6-0, against the Cardinals' duo of Franeidy Mauricio/Gabriela Pirondi, while the #2-pair of Fernanda Navarrete/Elizabeth Nlemchukwu defeated Jada Powell/Jahaira Cumbicus of York-NY, 6-0.
In singles action, #1-Vargas triumphed 6-0, 6-0 over Mauricio, while #2-Sanchez posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Pirondi.
Navarrete posted a 6-1, 6-0 win in #3-singles over Powell, while Nlemchukwu was victorious 6-0, 6-0, in #4-singles against Cumbicus.
The Lightning are back in action on Friday (October 24th) for its regular season home-finale at The APEX Courts, as it takes on John Jay College, in a CUNYAC match-up at 11 am ET.
