Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team concluded its regular season with a 7-0 blanking of John Jay College, in a CUNYAC match, at The APEX Courts on Friday. The playoff bound Lightning go to a 6-6 overall record and 3-3 in conference play, while the Bloodhounds dropped to a 2-8 mark and 2-4 in CUNYAC action.
Lehman won all three of its doubles encounters as the teams of #1- Gabriela Vargas/Amya Sanchez, #2 -Fernanda Navarrete/Elizabeth Nlemchukwu and #3-Ndeye Ndiaye/Isis Everett all defeated John Jay opponents by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-4, respectively.
In singles action, #1-Vargas posted a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Thawann Ogle of John Jay, while #2-Sanchez was also victorious for the Lightning as she defeated Bloodhounds' Manuela Orrego.
Also on Friday, Lehman's Navarrete claimed #3-singles over Muy Sim Wong of John Jay, 6-4, 6-4, while the Lightning's Mamie Kolley won #5-singles against Bloodhounds' Anna Rosario, 6-0, 6-2.
Rounding out the encounters, was Lehman's Esther Matthews as she posted a 6-0, 6-2 triumph in #6-singles over Layla Adaloum of John Jay.
The Lightning have earned the fourth seed in the CUNYAC Championships and will face number one seeded Hunter College next Tuesday (October 28th).
