Men’s Soccer Defeat Brooklyn In Regular Season Finale

Bronx, N.Y. – Goals by forwards Ashraf Abubakar, Ousmane Kebe and Joseph Ademola Opesanwo gave the Lehman College men's soccer team a 3-0 victory against visiting Brooklyn College, in CUNYAC regular season finale, at South Field on Wednesday evening.  The playoff bound Lightning go to a 7-2-4 overall record and 3-2-2 in CUNYAC action, while the Bulldogs dropped to a 10-5-1 mark and 5-1-1 in conference play.

Abubakar opened the scoring for Lehman in the 37th minute off a direct free kick.  Opesanwo made it 2-0 for the Lightning with a tally in 58th minute off an assist from midfielder Cameron Dennis. Then with a minute remaining, Kebe notched the third goal of the game for the hosts off a corner kick from midfielder Christian Posada.

Lehman outshot the CUNYAC regular season champion and postseason tournament number one seeded Brooklyn, 23 to 2, with the Lightning goalkeeper Andres Barajas earning the shutout.

The Lightning, which earned the fourth seed at the CUNYAC postseason, will host fifth seeded Hunter College in the playoffs opening round, on October 29th, at South Field.
