Purchase, N.Y. – For the fourth time in the last 10 seasons, the Lehman College women's basketball team open its campaign with a victory as it defeated Cairn University, 79-52, in the opening encounter of the Purchase Panther Classic at SUNY Gymnasium on Friday. The Lightning go to a 1-0 overall record, while the Highlanders dropped to an 0-1 mark.
Lehman led the entire game as it shot 43 percent from the field and held Cairn to just 28 %.
Guard
Isabela Araujo led the Lightning offense with 17 points, while teammate
Emily Kennedy registered 15 points and nine rebounds. Guard
Sage Fanelli notched 12 points, seven boards and six steals, while teammate
Nelson Asamoah added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Lehman will conclude the Purchase Panthers Classic on Saturday (November 8th) when it takes on Cedar Crest College at 11 am ET.
