Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball dropped its 2025 season opener, 12-10, to St. Joseph's University-NY on Friday at SUNY Maritime College. The Lightning go to a 0-1 record, while the Bears improved to a 1-0 mark.
After trailing 5-0 going into the top of the third inning, Lehman posted 10 runs to take a 10-5 advantage. St. Joseph's-NY then scored three runs in the third and fourth inning, respectively, to reclaim the lead 11-10. The Bears added another run in the seventh for the victory.
First baseman
Elias Fermin scored twice with two hits (including a triple) and drove in two teammates for the Lightning. Designate hitter
Greg Peguero also had two RBI and crossed home plate, while third baseman
Juan Maldonado had two runs scored.
Lehman will look for its first victory since May 9, 2023, when it travels to take on Mount St. Mary's College-NY, in a non-conference game, on Wednesday (March 5th) at 4 pm ET.
