Danbury, Conn. – The Lehman College baseball team late game came back fell short as it dropped a heartbreaking 17-14 non-conference affair at Western Connecticut State on Tuesday evening at Westside Field. The Lightning go to an 0-9 overall record, while the Wolves improved to a 5-8 mark.
After Western Connecticut had a 17-4 advantage after seven innings, Lehman scored 10 times in the eighth inning to cut the lead to three. However, the Wolves held for the victory.
First baseman
Juan Maldonado led the offense for the Lightning with three RBI and scored a run, while second baseman
Rinel Maldonado crossed home plate three times and drove in a runner. Also, third baseman Yojancel Alonte, centerfielder
Cristopher Cruz and designated hitter
Brandon Deynes added two runs each for Lehman.
The Lightning will attempt to get its first victory since May 9, 2023, when it hosts Saint Elizabeth University, in a non-conference game, at South Field with first pitch set for 4 pm ET.
