Bloodhounds Top Lightning in CUNYAC Opener

The Lehman and John Jay baseball teams kicked off CUNYAC play with a twin at Trenton Thunder Ballpark in New Jersey.

The Lightning dropped the opener 5-2.  Trailing 2-0 in the Lehman half of the fifth, The Lightning led off the frame with a Chris Cruz double to right center.  Kevin Arias recorded a n infield single that sent Cruz to third.  After Arias stole second, Leniel Rivera doubled down the left field line scoring two runs.  The Bloodhounds answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning for the final margin of victory.

In game two, it was all John Jay as they plated 20 runs on 13 hits.  The Bloodhounds scored seven runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third.

The Lightning fall to 0-12 overall and 0-2 in conference play.  John Jay improves to 8-8:2-0.  Lehman returns to action on Wednesday with a trip to Newburgh to face Mt St Mary with the first pitch scheduled for 3 PM.  John Jay will also hit the road with a 4 PM contest at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
