Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team split a twin-bill at The APEX Main Gym on Tuesday evening as it defeated non-conference opponent St. Joseph's University-NY, 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 20-25, 25-13), before it fell 3-0 (22-25, 15-25, 18-25) to CUNYAC rival Brooklyn College.
The Lightning (11-3; 3-3 CUNYAC) began taking first two sets over St. Joseph's-NY Bears (1-5) before it dropped the third set. Lehman prevailed in the fourth set to win the match.
Emmanuel Cochran led the Lightning offense with 11 kills and four blocks, while
Almir Pepic had 10 kills and six blocks.
Christian Agudo registered a 'double-double' as he dished out 35 assists with 10 digs, while
Abdoylaye Kante added seven kills and
Ray Rodriguez grabbed 16 digs.
Lehman dropped the first two sets in the nightcap to the Brooklyn Bulldogs (6-11; 2-2 CUNYAC) before battling back in the third set to a 6-6 deadlock. Brooklyn went on a 19 to 12 run to win the set and claim the match. Cochran recorded 10 kills for the Lightning, while Oscar Calderson added six kills and Agudo had 22 assists.
Lehman returns to action on Thursday (March 6th) when it visits Hunter College, in a CUNYAC encounter, at 6 pm ET.
