Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team dropped a CUNYAC twin-bill (20-2, 8-6) to Baruch College on Thursday, at South Field. The Lightning go to a 1-25 overall record and 0-12 in CUNYAC action, while the Bearcats improved to an 11-18 mark and 8-4 in conference play.
Lehman took a 2-1 lead at the top of the third, in the doubleheader opener, however Baruch go two runs in the bottom of the inning and then added nine more in the fourth on its way to victory. First baseman
Juan Maldonado had two RBI for the Lightning, while outfielders
Kevin Arias and
Brandon Deynes each scored a run.
In the nightcap, Lehman again had the advantage early (2-1), however Baruch scored four times in the second inning and one from in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. After each side traded a pair of runs each, the Lightning attempted a comeback in the seventh and got two more runs to cut the deficit, however the Bearcats held on for the victory. Lehman will be back in action on Tuesday (May 6th) when it competes in the CUNYAC Championships with a yet to be determined opponent.
