Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team opened the 2025 season with a 6-1 victory against visiting University of Mount St. Vincent, in a non-conference match, at The APEX courts on Thursday. The Lightning go to a 1-0 mark, while the Dolphins dropped to an 0-1 record.
After winning all three doubles matches, Lehman took five of the singles encounters over Mount St. Vincent. Gabriela Vargas won #1-singles for the Lightning 6-0, 6-0, over Dolphins' Madaleine Maras, while Lehman's Fernanda Navarrete claimed the #3-singles match, 6-3, 6-3, against Divana Carrillo of Mount St. Vincent.
Lightning's Elizabeth Nlemchukwu posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory in #4-singles over Dolphins' Kaitlyn Mednez, while Mamie Kolley triumphed in #5-singles, 6-1, 7-5, for Lehman against Hannah Bone of Mount St. Vincent.
Rounding out the Lightning victories was Esther Matthews claiming #6-singles over Dolphins' Zoe Fields, 6-1, 6-2.
Lehman is back in action on Friday (September 12th) when it hosts Sarah Lawrence College, in a non-conference encounter, at The APEX courts with doubles actions commencing at 4 pm ET.
