Bronx, N.Y. – Three-goal performances from forwards
Ashraf Abubakar,
Ibrahim Ouedraogo, and midfielder
Abdula George propelled the Lehman College men's soccer team to a dominant 13-2 victory over conference rival York College-NY at South Field on Saturday. With the decisive CUNYAC win, the Lightning improved to a 5-3-4 overall record and 2-0-3 in conference play. The Cardinals dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in the CUNYAC.
In addition to their hat-tricks, Abubakar and George each recorded an assist to cap off their massive offensive performances. Midfielder
Brandon Dennis served as the primary playmaker for the Lightning, scoring a goal of his own while dishing out four assists. Midfielder
Mustafa Waggeh and defenders
Santiago Giraldo and
Alejandro Vargas rounded out the historic scoring surge with one goal apiece.
The 13-goal explosion marks the highest single-match scoring total for the Lehman program in over a decade. The Lightning last reached this offensive threshold on October 19, 2013, defeating Medgar Evers College 12-0.
Lehman will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on Wednesday, October 21, when they host Brooklyn College for another critical CUNYAC encounter at South Field. Kick-off is set for 5 pm ET.
