Amidou Kone scored with nine minutes remaining to cap off a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory for the Lehman College men's soccer team against John Jay College on Saturday at South Field. With the win, the defending CUNYAC champion Lightning improve to 2-3-3 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 1-0-2. The Bloodhounds fall to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the CUNYAC.
John Jay struck first, building an early 2-0 lead with goals from Daniel Mansur (14th minute) and Adrian Sudol (15th minute) just 60 seconds apart.
Lehman began its rally in the 31st minute when defender
Ibrahim Kone found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1 before the half.
The Lightning found their equalizer in the 63rd minute when forward
Joseph Ebene Adeagbo scored off a double-assist from
Ashraf Abubakar and
Osmar Mendez. Abubakar then picked up his second assist of the day in the 81st minute, setting up
Amidou Kone's game-winning strike.
In net,
Matthew Strainz made five critical saves to preserve the win and snap Lehman's four-game winless streak.
Lehman continues its four-game home stand, with match two, on Tuesday, October 6th, hosting Medgar Evers College at South Field. Kickoff is set for 6 pm ET.
