Bronx, N.Y. – 'Double-doubles' from
Almir Pepic (12 kills, 10 digs) and
Nathaniel Matthie (26 assists, 10 digs) pave the way for the Lehman College men's volleyball team as it won a five-set (22-25, 25-22, 25-29, 19-25, 15-13) thriller over visiting CCNY, in a CUNYAC match, at The APEX Main Gym on Tuesday evening. The Lightning improved to a 2-6 overall record and 1-1 in conference play, while the Beavers dropped to a 3-3 mark and 0-1 in CUNYAC action.
After losing the first set, Lehman took the next two, before CCNY won the fourth to force the match into the fifth set. The Beavers had a 13-12 lead in the last set, before the Lightning scored three unanswered points to post their fifth consecutive head-to-head victory.
Pepic also had eight blocks which was two shy of having a 'triple-double' for Lehman on Tuesday.
Oscar Calderon also notched 12 kills and six blocks, while
Enea Doci added eight kills and six blocks.
The Lightning are back in action n Thursday (February 12th) when it has a short travel to Riverdale section of the Bronx to take on University of Mount Saint Vincent, in a non-conference match, at 6 pm ET.
