Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team dropped a CUNYAC twin-bill to visiting Baruch College (20-9, 8-5) at South Field on Friday evening. The Lightning go to an 0-14 overall record and 0-2 in conference play, while the Bearcats improved to a 4-10 mark and 2-0 in CUNYAC action.
In the opener, Baruch raced to a 14-1 lead by the fourth inning. Lehman's bats woke up in the bottom half, cutting the gap to 14-7 behind a
Damian Delgadillo home run and three RBI from
Emil Valenzuela. However, the Bearcats pulled away with six late runs to secure the opener.
Hecnel Guzman added two hits and two RBI in the effort.
The nightcap followed a similar script, with Baruch building an 8-2 cushion by the sixth. Lehman mounted a late rally, scoring three times to bring the tying run to the plate, but the comeback fell short. Guzman remained hot, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while
Luke Friscoe and
Daniel McCrink each drove in a run.
The Lightning will look to bounced back at home this Tuesday, March 31, hosting Western Connecticut State, in a non-conference encounter, at 4 pm ET.
