Baseball Lose Twice At Baruch

Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost both encounters (14-8, 11-1) of the CUNYAC twin-bill against the hosts Baruch College on Friday at SUNY Old Westbury Baseball Field.  The Lightning go to a 3-21 overall record and 2-6 in conference play, while the Bearcats improved to a 10-12 mark and 8-0 in CUNYAC action.

Lehman took a 4-1 advantage, in the opener, however, Baruch got six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take an 8-4 lead.  The Bearcats would then outscore the Lightning 7 to 4 to take the first game.  Catcher Luke Firscoe drove in three runs for Lehman, while infielder Carlos Silfa was two-for-four with two RBI.  Outfielder Jediel Peguero scored twice and was three-for-four with a triple and an RBI.

The Lightning trailed early in the nightcap, 2-1, however the Bearcats went on a 9-0 run to complete the doubleheader sweep.  Infielder Yojancel Almonte scored the only run for Lehman, while Silfa, infielders Emil Valenzuela, Steven Santos and pinch-hitter Randell Soler all had hits.

The Lightning are back in action next Thursday (April 23rd) when it travels to Phoenixville, Pa. for a non-conference twin-bill against University of Valley Forge with first pitch set for 2 pm ET.
