Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team dropped a heartbreaking 9-7 decision to visiting CCNY in the opener of a CUNYAC doubleheader at South Field on Saturday, the nightcap was postponed due to rain and will be made up early next week.
The loss gives the Lightning a 4-22 overall record and 2-7 in CUNYAC action, while the Beavers improved to a 13-16 mark and 6-2 in conference play.
After CCNY took a commanding 9-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh and with two outs, Lehman attempted a comeback, scoring six runs to cut the advantage to two runs. However, the Beavers held on for the victory.
The Lightning offense was paced by catcher
Luke Friscoe with a three-run homer, while outfielder
Daniel McCrink was two-for-three with a homer and two RBI. Designated hitter
Hecnel Guzman also smacked his fourth home run of the campaign.
