Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team dropped its home opener in straight sets (8-25, 14-25, 22-25) to non-conference opponent Mount St. Mary's College (N.Y.) at The APEX Main Gym on Tuesday evening. With the result, the Lightning move to an 0-4 overall, while the Knights maintained their perfect start to the season at 6-0.
After dropping the first two sets, Lehman showed strong fight in the third frame, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead. However, Mount St. Mary's answered with a 25-19 run to claim the final set and secure the match victory.
Alanis Vasquez paced the Lightning with four kills and 10 digs, while
Chloe Colon also hammered down four kills.
Ayah Hamdaoui anchored the offense, dishing out 13 assists to go along with five digs and two service aces.
Lehman will look to bounce back on Thursday, September 17, when they continue their home-stand against Sarah Lawrence College. The non-conference match-up will take place at The APEX Main Gym, with the first serve scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
