Purchase, N.Y. – A standout "double-double" performance from
Alanis Vasquez wasn't quite enough Friday evening, as the Lehman College women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to host Purchase College at the PC SUNY Gymnasium. The Panthers took the non-conference match with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, and 18-25. With the setback, the Lightning drop to 0-6 overall, while the Panthers even their record at 3-3.
After dropping a tightly contested opening set, Lehman rallied strongly to capture the second frame and even the match. However, Purchase regained its footing to secure consecutive victories in the third and fourth sets to close out the night.
Vasquez anchored the Lightning defense and attack, racking up 15 kills and 23 digs.
Ayah Hamdaoui directed the offense with 22 assists while adding three service aces.
Rashel Torres contributed 15 digs on the defensive backline, and
Chloe Colon chipped in at the net with five kills and three blocks.
Lehman will look to snap its current slide on Tuesday, September 22, when the team travels to Manhattan to take on Baruch College in a CUNYAC showdown. First serve is set for 6 pm ET.
