The Lehman Lightning women's tennis team lost a hard fought 5-2 decision at home against the Golden Eagles of St Joseph's University (LI).
The match started with the Golden Eagles sweeping the doubles competition to earn the doubles point.. The most competitive match was at third doubles with the team of Fernanda Navarrete and Patricia Santiago-Montes played to a tie-breaker with the duo from St. Joseph's prevailing 7-2.
In singles action, Navarrete, playing in the third hole, topped her opponent 6-1,6-1. At fifth singles, Mamie Kolley won her match in three sets. The junior won the first set 6-4 and dropped the second set in a tie-breaker before winning the third set 10-7.
The Lightning are back in action on Wednesday afternoon, as the Hawks from Hunter College invade the Apex Courts. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
