Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team opened its 2026 campaign with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the hosts College at Old Westbury in a non-conference match-up at Panther Park on Wednesday. With the tie, both the Lightning and the Panthers move to a 0-0-1 overall record on the season.
Old Westbury broke the ice in the 27th minute when forward Alvaro Arroyo found the back of the net. However, Lehman responded just three minutes later. Forward
Ashraf Abubakar scored the equalizer for the Lightning, converting a sharp pass from midfielder
Cameron Dennis.
Lehman then took the lead in the 32nd minute. Midfielder
Abdula George scored his first collegiate goal in his career debut, assisted by teammate
Amidou Kone. The lead was short-lived, as Old Westbury midfielder Alexander Jorgensen struck the final equalizer for the Panthers in the 37th minute. Neither side could break the deadlock in the second half.
The Lightning return to action for their home opener at South Field on Saturday (September 5), at 3 pm ET, hosting Sarah Lawrence College in another non-conference encounter.
