Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against the designated home team Baruch College, in a CUNYAC match, that took place at South Field on Wednesday evening. The Lightning improved to a 1-3-2 overall record and 0-0-1 in CUNYAC action, while the Bearcats go to a 1-5-1 mark and 0-0-1 in conference play.
Lehman had two opportunities to open the scoring early on as midfielder
Osmar Mendez and forward
Ashraf Abubakar shots in the eighth and 13th minutes, respectively were saved by the Baruch goalkeeper Dzmitry Piatrashka.
In the second half, with both sides looking for the game-winner, midfielder
Abdula George had the final chance for the Lightning to get on the scoresheet with seven minutes remaining however his shot was once again saved by the Bearcats' Piatrashka.
Lehman outshot Baruch 17 to 8, while the Lightning goalkeepers
Andres Barajas and
Matthew Strainz shared the clean sheet.
Lehman continues CUNYAC action on Saturday, September 26th, when it host Hunter College at South Field with kick off set for noon.
