Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference home matches, 3-1, at The APEX Main Gym, on Thursday evening to College at Old Westbury (25-19, 15-25, 19-25, 19-25) and University of Mount St. Vincent (25-23, 20-25, 12-25, 8-25), respectively.
The Lightning (0-9) showed signs of life by taking the opening set against the Old Westbury Panthers (3-2). However, the offense sputtered immediately after. Lehman dropped three straight sets to surrender the match despite
Alanis Vasquez (11 kills, 16 digs) and
Ayah Hamdaoui (18 assists, 14 digs) managing individual double-doubles.
The nightcap followed an identical, frustrating script. Lehman managed a narrow 25-23 win in the first set against the Mount St. Vincent Dolphins (3-8), only to lose the next three. Vasquez finished with nine kills and 12 digs,
Chloe Colon added six kills, and
Amariah Emanuel-Tyler had 13 digs.
Lehman will look to end its 12-match losing streak dating back to last season when they travel to Brooklyn on Tuesday, September 29th, to face St. Joseph's University-NY at 6 p.m. ET.
